Basement Pumping
Basement Pumping Another Service by Your Fire Department
As we have discussed in past articles, your Fire Department can serve you in many ways other than giving emergency medical assistance and fire suppression. Another public service that we provide to our resident is assisting them when their unwanted indoor pool is filling up.
During heavy and prolonged rains, many of our resident's homes basements leak and begin filling up with water. Some may have only small problems with water seepage but other may have up to several feet of water filling their basement. This is not only the obvious annoyance of having to move belongings but poses a very serious safety threat.
The rising waters will affect your furnaces and hot water tanks and will cause costly damage. Water reaching you electrical service is will create an obvious safety issue.
But Canton Township is here to assist you. Each station is equipped with portable sump pumps that can be brought out to your home and left there until the immediate situation has cleared up. We also have larger portable pumps and vehicles that we can use in larger or extreme situations. Our crew will come out to your home and assess the situation and decide what will be the best course of action.
Our sumps pumps will be loaned out to you as a temporary fix to your urgent water problems. We just ask that they be returned to us as soon as possible so that they are available for our residents who may need them next.
If you have a water filling your basement and not sure what to do, then just give us a call and we will evaluate it and assist you in resolving the immediate problem. To contact us for this assistance simply call our fire administration at (330)484-0317 during normal business hours or you can simply call 911 at anytime for urgent assistance.
The purchase and maintenance of these pumps is made possible by our operating levies and your continued support of them. Thank you.
