HEALTH INSURANCE UPDATE
Beginning July 1st of 2009, Canton Township will save over $22,000 per year by joining the Stark County Schools Council of Government Medical Insurance Co-Op. We join with 18 county school systems and 3 other townships to cover 11,000 employees. The Medical Co-Op has been established since 1984. Our annual premium will increase 7.5 - 10%, compared to the 13 - 26% premium increases that we have experienced during the past 5 years. Our 25 Canton Township employees will get better coverage at a lower cost to the township.
AUDIT UPDATE
The 2004-2005 state audit has been completed. The 2006-2007 audit is also complete and should be released soon. Upon the release of the 2006-2007 audit, Canton Township will be up to date with the state auditors. At the end of 2009 the next 2-year audit of the township’s financial records will be conducted. The Canton Township Trustees and Fiscal Officer continue to work hard to monitor expenses and to spend your tax dollars wisely.
