2006 Year End Report
We saw great strides in our automatic-aid endeavors with Canton City Fire Department
which was one of my goals for 2006. I will elaborate more on this later in this report.
We had increases in our part-time staffing levels with the hiring of trained employees
from neighboring departments.

Address Reminder
The fire department is once again asking our residents and businesses to go outside
and look at their building and their mailboxes and see how visible their addresses are.

Canton Township Bills Non-Residents
Canton Township Fire Department has generated supplemental income for our EMS service with the process of
billing non-residents for ambulance service, vehicle extrication and fire suppression.

New Fire Station Signs Donated
You may have noticed the new large Illuminated signs in front of our stations now. The signs began to
be installed last year and were completed this spring.

Open Burning Guidelines Have Been Revised
The fire department, by Trustee resolution, has amended the guidelines pertaining to legal open burning in Canton Township's
jurisdiction. The new guidelines took effect in April. The changes follow the State and Federal EPA rulings in regards to
open burning.

Strategic Planning Commitee Being Formed By Community Members
Canton Township Board of Trustees has allowed me to move forward and organize a
Strategic Planning Committee to assist in the development of a short and long term
strategic plan.
